53-year-old catwalk star Claudia Schiffer and the legendary brand Barbie have teamed up to create the most fashionable doll of all time. They presented a new product that will delight little and big girls around the world - Barbie Claudia Schiffer.
The doll, created in the likeness of the model, is dressed in the blue Versace dress that Schiffer wore at the brand's 1994 fall-winter show. The model said it was “surreal”to see herself in this role:
“I played with them all my childhood. I was sad that I was the only one enjoying the dolls, so I’m very happy to share them with the world.”
In an interview with People, she recalls her memories of the legendary show:
“It was a moment I will never forget. At the time, Versace was pioneering a new form of presentation, and it truly felt like a rock concert. They turned fashion into a cultural phenomenon. Hundreds of photographers lined the runway only to see Prince himself sitting in the front row. The atmosphere was electric. I never imagined that this moment would end up being embodied in my own Barbie.”
When asked what Barbie means to Claudia herself, she replies:
“My Barbie is happy memories. How I played and then we played together with my daughters, and also great memories of me playing Barbie for some fashion shoots, such as the shoot with Ellen von Unwerth for Italian Vogue. I hope this doll can continue to inspire fans to dream big and follow their passions, just like the Barbies of yesteryear did for me.”
